In the Auditorium of CEMA University, in Buenos Aires took place the seminar "Disarmament and Nonproliferation in the Nuclear Renaissance" organise with the Nonproliferation for Global Security Foundation.

The meeting was held June 10 2008 and was attended by distinguished panel consisting of Jorge Castro, President of the Institute for Strategic Planning; Abel González, IAEA Official  - International Atomic Energy Agency and the ARN - Nuclear Regulatory Authority, Argentina ; Julio Hang, Director of the Institute for International Security and Strategic Affairs CARI - Argentine Council for International Relationships and, Raúl Racana, Chairman of the Board of ARN - Nuclear Regulatory Authority, Argentina. The panel was moderated by Irma Arguello, Chair of NPSGlobal Foundation.

The panelist analyze the impact of the increased demand of nuclear plant around the world, and the risk that involve for nuclear proliferation, taking into account that the technologies for peaceful uses are similar that the ones needed to produce a nuclear weapon.  

 The seminar covered the following topics:
* Initiatives on disarmament and nonproliferation.
* Nuclear weapons, strategic importance in the global balance of power.
* Role of Nuclear-Weapons-States in global security. Viability of nuclear disarmament.
* Lights and Shadows of the regime of non-proliferation. Future prospects.
* Future challenges for the regional nuclear development. Cooperation Argentina / Brazil.
