International Program on Global Security, Emerging Technologies & Artificial Intelligence

Strategic education for decision-makers in high-stakes security environments

NPSGLOBAL’s International Program is an advanced, policy-oriented educational initiative designed for current and future decision-makers operating in high-stakes international security environments.

We work at the forefront of international security, disarmament, and the governance of emerging technologies, with artificial intelligence addressed both as a dedicated field of study and as a cross-cutting force reshaping all domains of global risk, diplomacy, and strategic decision-making.

Rather than focusing on academic theory, the program is designed for practitioners: diplomats, government officials, security and defense professionals, analysts, advisors, communicators, and high-potential professionals seeking to strengthen their strategic judgment and policy impact.

Program Overview

The real value
For 17 years, NPSGLOBAL’s International Program has trained diplomats, government officials, security and defense professionals, academics, and high-potential young leaders from across Latin America and beyond.
Why this educational offer exists

Global security challenges no longer fit into neat disciplinary boxes. This program exists to help professionals:

  • Think strategically across domains
  • Anticipate systemic risks
  • Engage confidently in high-level policy conversations
  • Understand how technology reshapes diplomacy, security, and governance
  • Develop leadership skills
Who should apply

There is no single “ideal profile”. Each cohort is intentionally diverse and interdisciplinary. Participants typically include:

  • Diplomats and foreign service officers
  • Government officials and policymakers
  • Defense, security, and law-enforcement professionals
  • Scholars and researchers working on security issues
  • High-potential young professionals seeking strategic positioning
A practical approach

The program is policy-oriented, not theoretical. Demanding, but affordable for professionals. Focused on strategic reasoning, not rote learning.

All modules include evaluation, discussion, and applied analysis. This is not a short course, but it is not a university program either. The goal is clarity of thought, not accumulation of credentials.

Artificial Intelligence as a cross-cutting dimension
Artificial intelligence is addressed both as a dedicated field of study and as a cross-cutting factor shaping all domains of international security, diplomacy, and decision-making. Each module integrates:
  • The strategic implications of AI and technological disruption
  • Impacts on security architectures, diplomacy, escalation dynamics, and governance
  • Limits of existing regulatory and institutional frameworks

A dedicated module addresses AI explicitly — but the program’s strength lies in showing how AI reshapes everything else, not treating it as a standalone topic.

Core areas of focus
Participants engage with a comprehensive set of tools spanning international security, strategic technologies, law, intelligence, negotiation, and policy design, including a lens of how artificial intelligence and new technologies are transforming each of these domains.
Faculty

The program brings together an international faculty of senior practitioners, analysts, and experts with deep experience and strong presence in media.

Beyond their academic prestige, staff members are selected for their ability to connect their experience with political practice, in order to transform ideas into action.

Key achievements

With 17 years of continuous delivery, the program has trained over 300 participants from 16 countries, creating a diverse and enduring alumni network across Latin America and beyond.

It is officially recognized as a relevant educational offering for disarmament and non-proliferation by the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA), and operates in cooperation with key regional and international institutions.

Most of graduates have seen their careers boosted after learning with NPSGLOBAL. They remain connected through professional networks, informal collaboration, and shared analytical language — often long after the program ends. Some of them are now part of our teaching and research staff.

This continuity is one of the program’s most valuable assets.
